Silk Scarf- "The Fish of Kea"
The Alekos Fassianos Museum, in collaboration with MANTILITY, presents a collection of
three silk scarves inspired by the artworks of Alekos Fassianos. Fassianos had a particular
fondness for scarves — he wore them often and frequently included them in his vivid
artworks. With their -owing elegance, rich colours, and sense of movement, scarves became a recurring motif in his visual language.
A few words about the design:
«The Fish of Kea»
"When you sit by the sea, near the rocky shores where the water turns blue-green, you see a silver glimmer — a fish darting by, disappearing into the depths. You wish you could follow it, into the silver light, into the caves below, down to the golden sandy beds. [...] I thought, I have to paint them, so they’ll last on paper — so I can keep that image of these beautiful fish that fill you with such wonder." Alekos Fassianos, Kea, August 1985
